Pianist Rūta Kuzmickas is a multidisciplinary artist, known for her refined musicianship and poetic sensibility, which shape both her performances and creative projects. Recognized for her nuanced interpretations and sophisticated sound, Rūta has appeared as a soloist and collaborator in concerts throughout Europe, including recent performances in Germany and Italy. She began performing with orchestras at a young age and continues to combine technical mastery with deep artistic insight.
A student of Ekaterina Melkamini and later Dr. Jean-David Coen, Rūta earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance from The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where she studied with Dr. Robert Roux and Jon Kimura Parker.
In addition to her concert activity, Rūta is a poet, composer, and visual artist. Her recent projects include a recording of Chopin’s complete Ballades, two poetry collections—Flash Flood Fiction and Per Se Phone (No Reply Press)—and collaborations with composers Alex Berko, Max Vinetz, Sarah Grace Graves, Alexandre Jamar, and Pulitzer Prize–winner Caroline Shaw. She has also performed with the Oregon Symphony and appeared on Radio France.
Now based in Paris, Rūta continues to expand her artistic reach through her multidisciplinary work while maintaining a strong presence on international concert stages.
