Varese, Italy
Set in the Alpine foothills and known as a “garden city,” the Varese area offers a rare balance: tranquil nature for deep focus, and rich culture for inspiration. Sacro Monte di Varese—part of a UNESCO World Heritage site—features a scenic pilgrimage route with chapels and panoramic views. Between lessons, students can unwind in the Giardini Estensi, visit world-class contemporary art at Villa Panza, or enjoy lakeside walks and cycling around Lake Varese.

Varese is often called the “Garden City” because of its parks, villas, and green hills—an ideal setting for a focused summer of practice with a calm, beautiful backdrop.
Beyond the music, students can explore Sacro Monte di Varese (part of a UNESCO World Heritage site), enjoy the elegant Palazzo Estense and Giardini Estensi, or visit Villa e Collezione Panza—an 18th-century villa renowned for contemporary art.
For a “reset day,” Lake Varese offers an easy 28 km walking/bike loop, and nearby Isolino Virginia is a unique UNESCO-listed prehistoric site on the lake.
Travel is simple, too: Varese is close to Milan Malpensa Airport, and Milan is reachable in about an hour by train—perfect for an optional day trip.
